Could i use a lightening facial cream to lighten up a tattoo?

i was planning on getting wrecking balm to lighten up a tattoo but figured since hydroquinone is the active ingredient then i could just get a lightening cream at the drug store and use that and an exfoliating scrub, but i'm still feeling kind of iffy, any advise, please only people who actually have tattoos and have lightened up tattoos! i'm a struggling student and cant afford laser removal i made the mistake and went to a new tattoo shop.
